What they needed help with:
Warren and Naomi were in a phase of out-of-control growth. The quality of their product was so desired, it saw Warren working 80 hours a week. Naomi and Warren rarely saw each other and it was beginning to take its toll on their relationship. Their ability to communicate the steps needed to attract, convert and deliver on a job was stilted and was hindering their capacity to take on work. And they didn’t know where to turn or how to move from where they were. They felt stuck and overwhelmed
What we did:
Our initial ground work uncovered their bigger vision for the business and some short, sharp steps to reduce Warren’s load on the tools. Within 3 months, his working hours reduced by 25%. We delved deep in to their individual behavioural styles to arm them with an ability to communicate more effectively and efficiently in each other’s ‘language’. The strategies and processes we developed around staff recruitment and retention, gave them greater confidence to employ a supervisor to take over from Warren. This increased the capacity of the business.
The business went from earning $70,000 per month to $150,000 per month. Warren halved his time in the business to a 40-hour week and takes every Friday afternoon off to play golf. Naomi is down to a couple of hours per week in the business and is free to pursue other interests. They feel more in control of their business AND their lives. Their business has become so systemised they continue to employ people to make their own roles redundant. They are clear on where they need to go and feel equipped to handle the surges of activity. The pair have regular date nights. And, they have the confidence to leave their business in the hands of skilled and process-driven employees. They are both working less and earning more.
